5 things tradespeople should watch this new year

A new year has dawned, and some of you hardworking tradesmen and women may be looking for a new series or movie to watch on TV.

Yellowstone

Yellowstone is a highly popular American tv series that hasn't really taken off in the UK - perhaps cowboys and ranchers aren't cool anymore! 

Yellowstone started in 2018 and just released its fifth season. Featuring Kevin Costner, among many other recognisable stars, the show is about a family who runs the largest ranch in Montana. The plot follows the drama surrounding the ranch as locals, the government, gangs and others try to snatch power from the Dutton family.

Pinocchio

Pinocchio is a cracking choice for any old-school Disney lovers or tradespeople with young kids. This re-imagined classic features a variety of Hollywood stars voicing the characters. From Ewan McGregor (Star Wars) to David Bradly (Harry Potter). 

Interestingly, Pinocchio is a stop-motion flick which took over 1,000 hours to shoot (shoutout to all those creatives who built the sets and moulded the characters)! To get a picture in your mind, stop motion is the same style as Wallace and Gromit, where you have figures and photograph each movement you make so that when the images are all together, it makes a film. 

For anyone wanting to watch the classic story of a wooden boy coming to life and then his nose growing, catch this one on Netflix over the Christmas/ New Year period. 

Wednesday

Got time off the tools and a massive fan of The Addams Family? This one is for you. An 8-episode series created by Tim Burton based solely on the famous daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams. 

The story follows Wednesday as a 16-year-old student at school who is intelligent, sarcastic, and a 'little dead inside' as the bio puts it. Strangely it's more of a comedy horror series as she becomes a Sherlock Holmes type solving murders at her school. 

Don't fear. It also features all the original family members, such as Morticia, Gomez, Uncle Fester, Lurch and Thing. Check it out on Netflix now.

Matilda the Musical

For anyone born in the late 80s and early 90s, you will most likely have grown up with Matilda. If not, those tradespeople with kids can introduce them to the magical character now!

This latest film is a film version of Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical with plenty of catchy, sing-a-long numbers. 

For any tradespeople with young children, this one is perfect for a quiet afternoon viewing! Or, if you fancy rekindling your youth, get it on for you and your partner! 

The Pale Blue Eye

This new thriller movie is coming out in early 2023, and the trailer has caught a few of our team's eyes! 

Based in 1830, Christian Bale (can the guy not do anything?) is a detective in New York investigating various murders at a military academy.
