Rhino’s 2026 Customer Survey reveals how tradespeople are really feeling - from rising costs and tool theft to time off work and the role insurance plays in protecting income, reputation and long-term stability.
If you haven’t already heard from every news station, social media platform, and passer by in the street, cases of Covid-19 are rapidly increasing across the nation. Is it just me or are you getting a feeling of déjà vu?
In an attempt to stem the flow of cases on the run up to Christmas, the Government has placed England into a second lockdown, starting Thursday 5th November 2020 (note that Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales are not affected by this as they have their own measures in place).

It is important to note however that this lockdown is not entirely the same as the lockdown we all experienced in March. This being said, it is still advised that throughout, we all ‘stay at home’, ‘protect the NHS’, and of course, ‘save lives’.
Our Lockdown 2 will take place between this Thursday 5th November to Wednesday 2nd December, meaning that until Thursday the usual local Covid-19 alerts will remain in place. During our new lockdown certain businesses and venues will be shut, and the Government will issue a full list of these to be made available.
Thankfully for tradespeople, Johnson and the cabinet are very keen for construction and blue-collar workers to remain working which means that anyone working in the trades will be able to continue to work throughout. Of course the usual Covid-19 measures are to be undertaken by anyone working during this period, but unlike March there is no need to cease trading entirely (unless that is a decision you would like to make personally).
Despite the lockdown being announced for just a month this time (5th Nov – 2nd Dec) there is uncertainty as to whether this will be extended by the Government after 2nd December. The Government have suggested that whether an extension is introduced will depend on the success of the lockdown, and the volume of Covid-19 Cases.
We’d like to reassure all tradesmen that Rhino Trade Insurance shall continue to work throughout this period. Yes, our Rhino HQ may be empty, but all of our Insurance Executives and Claims Handlers shall be working from home, 6 days a week.
